Civil 3D CAD Designer

Description

WRA is seeking a talented Civil 3D CAD Designer to join our multidisciplinary team working on site development and water resources projects throughout west-central Florida, and nationally on federal military projects across the Country. We are seeking a motivated individual who can develop both preliminary design layouts as well as detailed construction drawings, including grading, drainage, utilities and related infrastructure for commercial and residential projects. Based on WRA’s unique multidisciplinary market niche, responsibilities may also include design for federal infrastructure and training range projects at military installations throughout the nation.

This is a full-time position in a dynamic, fast paced, multidisciplinary work environment. Some of the key responsibilities for the Civil 3D CAD Designer position include:

Develop conceptual site layouts based on client and project manager input and collaboration;
Draft, edit & finalize technical design plans and details using appropriate and efficient CAD methods;
Understand and visualize overall civil engineering concepts and translate those concepts to design drawings, including detailed grading and other 3D design elements;
Prepare detailed construction quantity takeoffs, including earthwork cut/fill volumes;
Analyze sketches, notes and other available material to determine best approach to complete a drawing set;
Manage production of drawing sets from creation, organization, markup and modification based on overall design;
Work collaboratively with project managers and other designers to prepare drawings, details and complete plan sets;
Collaborate with clients and other consulting disciplines as necessary to develop overall design and plan sets;
Operate plotter, printer, scanner, and other input/output devices;
Review, prioritize and address regulatory agency review comments as they relate to design plan modifications;
Perform other technical and administrative tasks as required;
Remote work may be available.

Civil 3D CAD Designer QUALIFICATIONS:


Graduation from an accredited high school, or completion of a GED program. (required)
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from accredited university. (preferred)
Min. 5 years of experience performing CAD drafting work in a professional consulting setting, including experience and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities including those below. (required)
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D. (preferred)
Experience developing and working with grading plans, cross-sections, alignments, profiles, three-dimensional surfaces, and earthwork volumes for landfills and other large civil design projects. (required)
Experience with residential subdivision lot and infrastructure layouts (preferred)
Experience with commercial site and infrastructure layouts (preferred)
Experience using/incorporating land or aerial surveying/mapping data and files. (preferred)
Knowledge of civil engineering basics including sheet organization, topographical data, scales, and coordinate systems. (required)
Experience with Word, Adobe, and Excel. (required)
Experience with ArcGIS and MicroStation. (preferred)
Ability to work additional hours as needed. (required)
Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. (required)
