Authorized Gopher Tortoise Agent Florida –
Need assistance with gopher tortoises on your property? WRA is pleased to announce that we have several Authorized Gopher Tortoise Agents in the state of Florida ready to assist you. As an authorized gopher tortoise agent, our environmental scientists are permitted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to survey, trap, transport, and relocate gopher tortoises. Each year the environmental scientists at WRA are instrumental in relocating tortoises via FWC relocation permits. These permits are obtained by our Authorized Gopher Tortoise agents and can include: 10 or Fewer Burrows permits, Conservation permits, and Temporary Exclusion permits. For more information on what these various permits allow, please reach out to WRA (contact information below). Additionally, we are pleased to announce our Agents now have access to the new streamlined online permitting process for obtaining certain gopher tortoise permits for our clients.
WRA can be your first point of contact if you are informed that these protected species exist on your property. An onsite relocation may require an Agent, and an offsite relocation will always require an Authorized Agent. Agents may use various methods to capture and relocate gopher tortoises, including but not limited to bucket trapping, live trapping, and hand shovel excavation.
